Sponsoring a Child
By choosing to sponsor a child you are committed to helping their future by financing their secondary education. Kila Nafasi works with the MCESP by connecting the young girls in the support network with sponsors. Sponsorship includes school tuition, room and board, books and a small travel stipend to return home between terms. Should you choose to make a donation there are three main types of sponsorship.
To make a donation, simply fill out the Donation Form and mail it to us, along with your check.
1) Full Sponsorship:
As a full sponsor you agree to support a child’s schooling in its entirety for the duration of their studies. The length of their studies vary depending on the grade level of the student when they apply, but the sponsorship is for no longer than four years. The average cost of secondary school in Kenya including tuition, room and board is around four hundred and fifty dollars a year. We encourage you to ask family, friends, neighbors or community groups to sponsor a child together. All people involved will receive information about the child you sponsor and updates on the student’s progress in school.
2) Partial Sponsorship:
This option is for those of you who would like to split the cost of sponsorship but are unable to find a group of people to share the cost. As a partial sponsor you agree to finance a fraction of the child’s education, and we will find other partial sponsors to complete the needed amount. As with full sponsorship you will receive information about the child you sponsor and updates about their progress in school.
3) General Fund:
We understand that sponsoring a child is a big commitment that perhaps you are unable to make at the time, so we also created a general fund, designed to give small one-time scholarships for disadvantaged primary school students (boys and girls) who cannot afford books, soap or the required school uniform. Any donation you make to the general fund, no matter how small the amount, can make a significant difference in the life of a Kenyan child.
4) Supplies:
We welcome donations of school supplies, sports equipment and books. Below is a list of books on the required reading list for Kenyan schoolchildren. If you would like to donate books and supplies you have please contact us to find out how. If you would like to make a monetary donation to cover the cost of a book (some are in print only in Kenya) we will buy the book and donate it to the Ewaso Ngiro library in your name.
